Students identified from the initial EAL assessment.
Students at the early stages are:
- Withdrawn from normal lessons for extra English lessons.
How we support EAL Learners in KS4
Students take ESOL as an option.

Some ways to provide support at home

Bilingual dictionaries

Bilingual books

Ask your child to explain what they learnt at school today.

Check they understand homework.

Ensure they spend sufficient time on homework (30 min per subject, so 1-1 ½ hours every night).

Reading aloud to you in English.

Encourage them to play EAL games (see hand out for suggested websites)

Allowing them to watch English TV programmes and films
