Canons High School

Mathematics Faculty

Head of Faculty: Harsh Shah

At Canons High School, we believe that Mathematics is both relevant and important for success in life. We encourage all our students to learn maths without limits and in doing so, behave like ambitious mathematicians.

Mathematics is a hierarchical subject steeped in academic rigour. We want our students to foster a love for the beauty of the subject that goes beyond superficial enjoyment. This can only be experienced when they work and think hard about new knowledge, which is on the cusp of what they do know and can do independently.

Ascertaining students' existing knowledge, filling prior knowledge gaps, and then connecting new learning is at the heart of what we aim to do in the CHS Mathematics Faculty. Our curriculum maps and assessment models are based on this inclusive ethos to ensure that progress happens, and is visible to students over time.
