Preparing for Christmas at Canons
Our KS3 and KS4 offices are getting ready for the season's festivities!
December 1st
On the night of November 30th, the KS3 and KS4 student services elves worked whilst our students slept - preparing for the first day of December. Here at Canons we take seasonal celebrations very seriously, partaking in friendly competition whenever possible! The two offices were meticulously decorated, with staff using any free time to craft and create according to their tastes.
The KS3 staff chose a wintery theme, using pastel coloured cards and paper to create snowflakes and trees.
Hanging from wreaths were handmade stars and bows that were carefully tied to match even lengths! Mrs Varsani demonstrated her creative skills, intricately folding complex snowflakes to hang throughout the office.

Behind the wreath is a beautiful piece of Macrame art, made by Mrs Lidington. Even the tree was decorated beautifully with handmade ornaments, the bows being on trend with the current craze of 2025!

The mini and real elves of the KS3 office!
With the friendly competition going on, Mr Bullock decided that he would be the judge to decide who had the best decorated office! There has been no official judgement as of yet, but we shall see towards the end of the term.
Meanwhile, the KS4 Office chose a classical christmas theme, using reds, golds and greens! Traditional and iconic christmas figures such as Santa Claus, gingerbread men, reindeers and snowmen can be found across the warmly decorated office.

Red and Gold baubles hung from garlands across the walls, with gingerbread men bunting and green paper trees!

Students helped to decorate the office, creating the giant paper tree spanning across the whole wall. The white christmas tree matched the snow-spray snowflakes across the windows too!

The fairy lights made the office lighting much warmer and inviting, with star garlands even hanging from not only the blinds, but as a garlanded entrance to the office too!
Both of the offices were decorated beautifully in preparation for the upcoming season, really adding to the festive spirit throughout the school. Our KS3 and 4 teams managed to put together such intricate displays even whilst being so busy with the end of term.

Whilst there is no reward for the winner of this competition, we are sure that it will definitely be forever mentioned until the next Christmas office-off!
Christmas Jumper Day!
December 11th
Thursday saw Canons Annual Christmas Jumper day, alongside our Christmas Lunch. Christmas Jumper Day may be a time to show of the weirdest and wackiest festive knits, but it also represents a collective effort to support a worthy cause.

Christmas Jumper Day is one of Save the Children's biggest annual fundraising events. It's been running since 2012! Every December, schools, workplaces, community and friend groups to put on a Christmas jumper and donate.

Some of our staff's colourful christmas jumpers this year!

Jumpers upon jumpers upon jumpers...
Mrs Mann, the organiser behind this event, went one step further than us all! She is taking part in an international "Mini pin-loom sweater" event, trying to reach 100 mini knitted sweaters by the 18th December. Did you notice the extra sweater that isn't attached to the jumper itself?
A christmas lunch was prepared for the afternoon, with a surprise chef serving our students - Our Principal, Mr Bullock!
The yellow apron covered up the Tottenham Hotspurs Jumper our COYS obsessed principal chose to wear.
Mr Bullock assisted in serving lunches to our students, and even sitting to enjoy his meal with them after his hard work.

The two Ms Gilbertsons decided to match this year, as did two of our students! Maybe matching christmas jumpers could be the new trend of 2025?

Students were encouraged to wear their favourite christmas jumpers, or anything cozy and warm if they were able to. The corridors were filled with bright festive colours, with motifs such as snowmen and reindeers.

Mrs Balani's Year 7 Form was the best decorated classroom throughout the school, with the largest tree of all!

Her students helped to put up, and decorate both the tree and class. All of the students worked together to cut out bunting and snowflakes for the season. Even the door was festively decorated, standing out at the end of the corridor of blank green doors.

Mrs Balani also received a lovely handmade gift from her Year 13 student, Iqra. Who made a intricate green chenille stem tree, topped with little pearls and wrapped with a pink bow!

By participating, all of us at Canons High School helped raise funds for Save the Children. In total, we managed to raise almost £400 in total!
The money raised on Christmas Jumper Day is used to help children in the UK and all around the world stay safe, healthy and learning - and change their future for good.
