Canons High School

End of Term Celebrations!

With Christmas Break looming, the last week of term is spent rewarding our students' achievements.

December 15th-19th

This week marks the end of our Autumn Term, where Canons High School celebrates its students through daily assemblies for each year group.

Certificates are handed out for those with 97%-99% attendance, and for our ever-so-special students who have a perfect 100% Attendance. We also celebrate our Canons "Keys for Success", of achievement points awarded throughout the term. With the threshold for awards being  75 for a Bronze Award, 150 for Silver, 250 for Gold and 400 for Platinum, it truly takes significant effort that deserves praise!

Alongside the enameled badges and certificates, our students are also gifted a Dairy Milk chocolate bar per award received, as pictured by Mr Bullock here. Some very lucky students ended up with not two, or three but even four bars for all of their achievements!

As this was our Year 7s first ever Celebration Assembly, they were particularly enthusiastic about their peers' awards, cheering and clapping as loud as they could!

One form in Year 10 had over 20 students with 97%-99% Attendance! Amazing!

Two students in each year group were especially selected for two very special awards, the Head of Year's Student of the Year, and the Principle's Student of the Year. These two students would receive an exclusive badge, a shining golden circle with the Canons logo across it. This badge recognises their improvement and dedication throughout the year, having collected opinions from their teachers and data throughout the term to reach a conclusion on the two choices.

Head of Year 10, Mr Wardle's choice of Student of the Year.

Mr Brown, Head of Year 11 had a message about his choice for Year 11's Head of Year's Award.

"A special moment during our celebration assembly saw Sabrina A (11Y) receive the Head of Year Award. This recognition was thoroughly deserved and reflects not only Sabrina’s consistently outstanding work, but the person she is every day in school. Always going above and beyond, she leads with kindness and integrity setting the standard for others to follow. "

Well done Sabrina!

Mr Evans presenting his Year 7 student of the year award!

There are a range of certificates presented at our end of term celebrations, including extra-curricular achievements and Jack Petchey Awards. Jack Petchey Winners are awarded £300 to donate to a department of their choice, which Mr Litchfield who presented the assemblies, suggested be donated to his beloved R.E Department.

Pictured here is our Year 7 Jack Petchey Award Winner, Biatris M from 7R!

Congratulations to every single one of our students who received an award. You  deserve to be celebrated for all of your hard work this term.

To those of our students who unfortunately may not have received an award, these results are not based on skill or grades; but consistency and showing up! Coming in to school everyday, doing your best and making an effort is what truly matters!
