Double Football Success Over at 'The Hive'.
Firstly, on the late afternoon of 18th April, our Canons High Under 16s Boys Squad prepared to take on Hatch End High School in the final of the Harrow Borough championship.
The match was only a short walk over the road to 'The Hive' for our Year 11 boys, who were joined by many supporters and members of staff.
After an exciting finale to this local championship, we crushed Hatch End High 10 - 0. This impressive score was all the more unusual as Hatch End High themselves had won an earlier game 7-0! As they say, 'It's a funny old game!'
Nevertheless, nothing can be taken away from our boys' fantastic win of both this final game and consequently the Harrow Under 16 Boys Plate.
Huge congratulations to the squad in their final game, literally, as they now start their 'study leave' in preparation for their all important GCSE exams later this summer. Special thanks and congratulations also to Mr B Adenekan and Mr B Artry from our Faculty of Sport, Health & Wellbeing, who have been coaching and leading the boys throughout their football journey at Canons.
Our team looked very smart and professional in their fresh new kit.
Ten Under 16 Boys' teams from high schools across the borough of Harrow took part in this latest championship.
Secondly, the Barnet FC Under 18s team played their last game of the season on Friday 26th April.
These talented young footballers, already spotted and part of the Barnet FC academy programme, are also Canons High Sixth Form students. They drew 3-3 against visiting Wealdstone FC.
Both the Barnet FC Under 17-18 and 19 squad players receive full-time training while pursuing their education here at Canons High School.
The Barnet FC Academy and Canons High School partnership offers a fantastic opportunity for students to excel academically and athletically over a two or three-year football and study program. Education options include BTEC Level 3 qualifications, A Levels, and a Level 2 Diploma in Gym Instructing & Sport Coaching.
