Our Year 9 students had the wonderful opportunity to visit the University of Reading!

A huge thank you to Peter-James Howe and the University of Reading team for organising such an inspiring day.

Their thoughtful sessions encouraged our students to explore future pathways and consider their next steps before embarking on their GCSE journey.

We truly appreciate the time and effort that went into making this experience so meaningful. Moments like these spark aspirations and shape futures!

We lost the toss, and the opposing captain chose to bat first. Led by the Canons cricket captain Neel P and some terrific bowling from the likes of Fayaz, who was able to take a couple of crucial wickets. We managed to limit the opposing team to just 63 runs and required 64 runs from 10 overs to win.

Shaurya and Neel opened the batting and were iconic in their manner in which they chipped away at the score in the opening overs. However, it wasn't too long before Shaurya was caught out for taking a risky shot.

Next in line to bat was Fayaz, who formed a formidable partnership with Neel to take the game all the way to the last over. With the scores tied and Canons needing one run to win...  the next delivery was a wide bowl. A slightly underwhelming way to win the game but a strong performance nonetheless from the team and a good first win of the season.

A huge thank you to each and every student for their spectacular performances, team work and enthusiasm in leading Canons to victory! A special shout out to the highly entertaining Canons captain, Neel P for leading the team, constantly talking to the team during the match and a solid batting performance. 

Yesterday, we took 14 Year 10 students to Stratford-upon-Avon for their final trip of the year, the chance to see ❝Hamlet: Hail to the Thief❞‬

This is a remix of the original play with the 2003 Radiohead album - gritty, intense, and much shorter than a traditional version of the play. 

Thom Yorke, Vocalist and main songwriter of the rock band, Radiohead is one of the brains behind this play.  Shakespeare's Hamlet and Radiohead's Hail to the Thief album, collide for a feverish experience that fuses theatre, music, and movement. 

Created 400 years apart, the two forms of media share eerily similar themes of corruption, political decay, paranoia, and distrust. For this new adaptation, the album has been deconstructed and the play abridged. 

The strategic choice of high contrast shadows and light enhance emotional impact

The students loved the combination of modern music and traditional play, and it was a great opportunity for them to see Shakespeare in a way that isn't often performed.

In the blazing sun, we had the opportunity to explore Stratford - home of Shakespeare - grab an ice cream and take a look at what the river had to offer, then we headed in to the air-conditioned theatre to experience the show.

Thank you to our Year 10 students for being on their best behaviour, alongside Miss Emmerson, Mr Beck and Mr Barrett for accompanying!

DVS Foundation's DVS Awards were established in 2021 by Dhiru V Shah and his wife Rami Shah, to support teachers with rewarding and recognising Year 12 students for their success throughout the academic year.

Last night, we celebrated the success of a number of our Year 12 students at the DVS Awards, at The Manor Elstree. 

Each school decides their own 10 Award categories and the 10 respective winners. The Awards are presented in an end of year assembly with each winner being gifted with a certificate and a £100 gift voucher.

On Monday, we held our Sixth Form Induction Day, showcasing introductory sessions to potential KS5 students. 

The day started at 9am, with an introductory welcome from our Student Leaders and KS5 Team. From 9:30am to 12pm, students experienced talks on Independent Studying and Organisation, Role Modelling in School, Attitudes to Learning, Study Tips and Sixth Form Life and Leadership. 

There was such a positive atmosphere, students were very engaged in how our sixth form classes run, and how the transition to KS5 would be. 

We hope this induction day gives our new KS5 Students confidence in how we can support them at Canons Sixth Form!
