Keep Smiling Through!
Wet, cold and muddy, but absolutely loving it!
Oct 1st
A special group of Year 11 boys spent an enjoyable day challenging themselves to overcome obstacles, and trying not to get completely soaked and muddy.
They succeeded in the first instance, but totally failed in the other... and didn't care a jot!
This was a reward special trip over to 'Nuclear Races' in Brentford, Essex, and amazing outdoor adventure centre where they specialise in fun but challenging assault courses, obstacle races and getting your clothes dirty!
Accompanied by Head of Year 11 Mr L Evans and our own PE Action Man Mr J Benstead, all the boys had demonstrated renewed efforts in overcoming recent difficulties.

Reunion Visit
Oct 8th
Our school must have looked quite strange, yet comfortingly familiar to a group of ex-students who left back in the 90s.
The Class of 1994, who left Canons High thirty years ago, came together to re-visit, re-connect and reminisce during a visit at the beginning of October.
They had a great time and thanks must go to Ms D Gorasia, one of our Assistant Principals, for organising their visit.
The Riot Act & Road Safety
Oct 8th
Our Year 7 students were reminded about the dangers of roads when educational theatre company 'The Riot Act' visited us at the beginning of October
This wasn't a dull talk by some local authority or boring official, but a dynamic, active and very engaging presentation which all our young students could immediately relate to, understand and appreciate.
No matter how grown up our students might feel they are, the busy roads around us are a real concern and their safety and wellbeing is of the utmost importance to us.
Thank you 'The Riot Act' for coming in and trying to keep us all safe.
OPEN EVENINGS 2024...
Oct 9th - High School | Oct 17th - Sixth Form
Always a highlight and one of the most important events in our school year, Open Evenings are where we get to throw our doors open, invite everyone in and really show off what a fantastic school we are!
Canons High Open Evening
"The Best Kept Secret in Harrow"
was the strap line we used for the Instagram reel we made of our main school's Open Evening...
You can watch this by clicking below.
Open Evening video 2024
This was a tongue in cheek reference to how our school is hidden away up a small residential side road, rather than being positioned on a large main road, in full view of thousands of passing people every day, as many other Harrow high schools are!
We would like more people to be aware of what they are possibly missing out on!
Students hoping to study the works of William Shakespeare were able to sit down with the great man himself in the English Department.
"The Secret is Out!"
We certainly weren't hiding as each faculty and department eagerly welcomed visitors into their classrooms, laboratories, gymnasiums and workshops.
This main school Open Evening was a huge success with a very large number of families coming along to visit us, see what we have to offer and see how we look. Perhaps even compare us against other potential high schools for their children.
Juggling with fire!
Striking 3D artwork created by our students.
Very special thanks to our wonderful Student Guides, who confidently led groups of visitors around the school, answering their question knowledgably and honestly.
We then ran several Open Morning guided tours for those who either weren't able to attend the open evening, or who wanted a closer look and to see the school actually 'in action'.
Canons Sixth Form Open Evening
Just over a week after we'd held our main school Open Evening, we did it all again for our Sixth Form provision.
Ms J Smith, our Director of Sixth Form.
Concentrated in our specialist Sixth Form Centre, our faculties and departments again presented their subjects, but this time in their A-Level, T-Level and BTEC capacities.
Visitors enjoyed a presentation by our Director of Sixth Form, as well as our Head Students and some past students.
A Level Photography
Opportunities for photo journalism, lens based creative projects and professional photographic careers.
Girls Under 14s Football
Oct 15th
Our new Girls U14 Squad made an impressive start recently, performing extremely well in their first game of the season.
Coach Mr A Conway said...
"A superb performance.
I am genuinely and deeply proud of the entire team."
Care Home Visit
Oct 16th
Residents at the Elton House Care Home enjoyed a visit by a small group of our Sixth Form 'Health & Social Care' students.
For our students considering a career in the care sector, hands-on time like this is very valuable, giving them a proper experience of this branch of social care.
I'm sure the residents enjoyed meeting them also, chatting about school, asking questions of each other and keeping up to date with news and events.
"Elton House Care Home in Watford offers the highest standards in residential, nursing, dementia and respite care in a warm and welcoming community.
Our home happily accommodates couples and companions who wish to remain together as they continue their care journey and make new memories side by side."
Springboard FUTURECHEF 2024-2025 Competition
We are taking part in this competition, which is now the biggest school culinary competition in Britain!
School Heat: September - October 2024
Students entries are narrowed down by our Food & Nutrition team, Miss Campbell and our new Food Technician Mrs Yip.
Six students then went through to our school cooking round, held on 16th October. Judging their efforts was a specially invited Chef from the 5 Star Athenaeum Hotel in London's Mayfair, our very own Principal and 'Foodie' Mr David Bullock and Chef Andrew Convoy, our friend from the West Herts Catering College.
They were Kyla P, Quesha C and Lesean G from year 10, plus Sonia O, Empress D and Timeea L from year 9.
Their food was all very impressive and they were judged using three criteria: skills and technique, composition, taste and flavour, and finally creativity and presentation.
But only two could go through to represent Canons High, and they were Quesha and Lesean.
"Yes Chef!"
That chef looks remarkably like our Principal, Mr Bullock?
Local Final: November 2024
School Round winners Quesha and Lesean will now go through to our local final, where they will compete against students from other local schools. The winners here will be paired with a local chef who will mentor them in preparation for the heats ahead.
We wish our two young FutureChefs the very best of luck.
Regional Final: January - February 2025
Winners from the local finals will battle it out in their regional final to see who will move forwards and into the final stage.
National Final: March 2025
The 12 regional finalists will compete against each other to see who the judges will choose as their 2024/25 Springboard FUTURECHEF!
Keep an eye on our news for competition updates.
Half Term Art Intervention
Oct 23rd
It's very nice to have a half term break at the end of October, but for students with extremely important exams looming, the opportunity to come back into school for some specialist revision, tuition or project catch-up time was not to be missed.
Intervention sessions are often run by different faculties and departments after school, but also during the holidays in some instances.
For our young creatives, this special time was their first choice for what to do during the holidays.
