Inter School Chess Tournament
Celebrating Chess!
July 7th | Mr Kaya
On Tuesday 7th July, 4 schools came together for a celebration of the greatest game in the world, Chess! Canons High School, Claremont High School, Park High School, and Newham Catholic College went head-to-head, playing a combined 60 games between them to determine the Inter School Chess Champion!

Our school hall all prepped
and ready for the students!
10 players from each school played a series of 3 games to get points for their team. Canons High School had some amazing performances that even Mr. Kaya could not have predicted against such tough competition! Ved P (Y7) gave the strongest performance and never lost a single game despite the tough competition!
Thinking hard...

There were also very strong performances from Brian T (Y12), Yash P (Y11), Flavian C (Y10) and Hiruka S (Y9), winning 2 out of 3 games! As well, we had a range of new players who brought home points for the team too, like Enoch A (Y9), Dhyey B (Y11), Courtney M (Y7), Flavian O (Y9) and Ramy A (Y9)!

Announcing the winners!
Everyone had a great time, yet in the end, Newham Catholic College came out on top with a well-deserved victory, winning 24 out of 30 points! Nevertheless, the fires are lighted for our Canons students, who Mr Kaya will train harder and better to bring back the trophy next year!
