Jack Petchey Awards Evening
February 11th | Dr Shah
Celebrating the winners of the Jack Petchey Award, from schools across Harrow!
Achievement comes in many forms and the Jack Petchey celebrates and acknowledges what our students have accomplished. This celebration also gives us all an opportunity to say thank you to the adult leaders, teachers, staff and volunteers who work so hard to inspire and encourage young people!
If you think you can... you can!
When a young person wins an Achievement Award, they receive a certificate, a medallion, and choose how to invest a £300 grant within their school or youth organisation to benefit their peers. The funds are used for a fantastic range of initiatives and projects, including equipment, trips, training and more.

The programme also enables young people to celebrate adult staff and volunteers from the organisations that support them through the Leader Award and Leader Award Grant, which the leader gets to work on a project of £1000 that will benefit the students!
Dr Shah, the co-ordinator for Jack Petchey, spoke about her role in organising the awards:
"As a Jack Petchey co-ordinator of Canons High school, I send a Ms Forms link to all our students from year 7-13 and staff to nominate a student. Results are collated with the student with the majority nominations being selected. Whilst students get to nominate staff for the leader award."
Mr Wahab and Ms Dabasia were this year's staff nominations!
"Students are announced in assembly and certificates given, with a notice board to announce the winners. As a coordinator, I have regular meetings with JP representation of the Harrow borough and have to meet deadlines of entry and apply for education grants and trip reports.
Additionally we are running the Gold and bronze scheme and Environmental award, Speak out challenge workshops and competition where students are given training on public speaking and then they get to participate in the Harrow Borough competition. "
