It's always bittersweet to say goodbye to summer, but especially so for our new Year 7 Students, who are adapting to an exciting, but brand new environment. As we embark on a new academic year here at Canons High School, we understand that the shift from primary to secondary school can be daunting, but our dedicated teachers and vibrant school community are here to support our students each step of the way.

Most of the students had visited during their taster day, and some familiar with the school having visited during the break for Summer Camp.  However the big difference today was the change from an array of multi-coloured primary uniforms, to a sea of smart, red Canons Uniforms!

The day began with an introductory assembly from the Principal, Mr Bullock. Students were introduced to the rewards system, in order to motivate hard work and effort through school trips to exciting locations such as Thorpe Park. The students were then introduced to their new Head of Year, Mr Evans, after having said goodbye to the Year 11s he supported for 2 years, he now looks forward to aiding his first Year 7 group.

Mr Evans spoke about the results achieved by the previous Year 11s and 13s, showing the new students what they will soon be achieving over their next 5 years at Canons. They then were introduced to their forms, and a new busy timetable, while being introduced to the teachers who will carry them through the next year.

Whilst starting a new school may come with initial fears, it is also an incredible opportunity for growth and development. We hope our Year 7s will look forward to the positives, and also embrace the challenges. High school is a pivotal time for personal development, so remember that every experience contributes to your journey in shaping who you are! 

Welcome to Canons High School!

Whilst everyone was enjoying the bright and clear sunny weather during their summer break, speedy renovations were the priority with an empty school. The upgrades included new windows and plush carpet, alongside the latest equipment for the school's fitness suite for students to enjoy. Later in the year, we hope to present a brand new Canons asphalt, but that is soon to come...

Before the summer break, some of our talented GCSE Art students took the time to design and paint a new Mural for our Art and Design Department. Now, its ready in time to welcome the new academic year!
