Canons High School

Our Friends in Florence

Our recently re-established international school exchange program sees two exciting visits coming up in just the next few months.

LONDON - Firstly, 19 students and their teachers from Florence, Italy will be coming to Canons High for another visit. They are due with us on March 18th, almost exactly a year after their last very successful and productive visit.

They will again be staying in Shepherds Bush, with easy access to Canons for the daytime activities, but positioning them more locally for all the exciting sights and sounds of London, for their evening visits and other free time.

FLORENCE - Secondly, and even more excitingly for us, In April we have 28 Canons students and accompanying staff travelling to Italy to visit our friends in Florence.

We will be spending the days with our hosts at the Liceo (school) in and around Florence, but our evenings and free time will allow us to visit the incredible sights and sounds of this amazing historically and artistically rich city which is often called the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. A day trip to Pisa is also intended.

Huge thanks to our International Coordinator and Languages Teacher Ms D Matomby for keeping up the friendship, strengthening our links and making this all possible,.

News, pictures and reports for both exchange trips coming soon,

so please keep an eye on our news.

It is usual for Italian state schools to be named after a famous person, in this case, Giovanni 'John' Pascoli.

Giovanni Placido Agostino Pascoli was an Italian poet, classical scholar and an emblematic figure of Italian literature in the late nineteenth century.
