Settling in!
18th September
After a few weeks of getting used to High School, our Year 7s have slowly become accustomed to their new routine.
From curiosity and anxiety, to now, confidently making their way around the buildings without any help! Finding their favourite subjects, making new friends and developing bonds with their subject teachers now, Year 7 has officially become part of Canons High School.
Head of Year 7, Mr Evans, came up with a wonderful idea for their weekly assembly, introducing the Canons Rainbow!

The concept of the Canons Rainbow is educating our students about our differences in order to prevent discrimination. At Canons High School, we celebrate what makes us unique, our different languages, our different heritages and cultures. Because the world would be a boring place is everyone was the same!
Placed on every students seat was a coloured sheet of card, and when lifted - created a colourful rainbow across the hall.
The beautiful Canons rainbow!
We honour diversity here at Canons, and ensure an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and accepted. By celebrating our differences, we find unity in our diversity, helping us to get along and support each other.
Each colour of the rainbow is distinct, yet part of a whole.
While as individuals, we may have differences, we are all integral to the community!

Activities Day
19th September
Students thoroughly made the most of the brief sunny spell on Friday, as we organised the annual Activities Day for Year 7!

Our vast green fields saw multiple activities for students to enjoy at their own leisure, ranging from Archery, Wall Climbing, to Tightrope Balancing, and even Quad-Biking! Thankfully the weather was perfect for the activities, a welcome break from the week full of dreary rain.

Shooting right for the bulls-eye!
Students were guided by instructors, teaching them the correct posture and angles to hold the bow. Quick to learn, our Canons students grasped the skill quickly, and were hitting targets faster than the camera could capture!

Students fearlessly braved the giant rock climbing wall, (whilst supervised by professionals for safety), with many of them easily clambering their way to the peak in record speed. Peers cheered for their classmates and friends, who competed in pairs to see who could reach the big red finish button at the top of the wall!

Aiming for the sky!
The miniature quad-bikes were a huge hit!
The teachers also could not resist trying their hand at the variety of activities, but could not defeat the athleticism of our students! Mr Fenn and Ms Osoba both tested out the tight-rope, after our students made it look so easy...

Not sure if that is a very stable position for Mr Fenn!
