Canons Sports Days 2024
This year we took advantage of our huge playing field to organise and run our own Sports days on site.
Scheduled over two mornings and two afternoons for the different years group, a huge amount of planning and preparation was required by our Faculty of Sport, Health & Wellbeing. And then once the sports days started, they would be extremely busy running all the events.

All the planning and preparation paid off. The weather was kind, the students were keen and it all went very well.
As well as the usual outdoor track and field events, such as the normal track races, long jump, high jump and shot put, the fun but challenging 'marble and spoon' race made a welcome return. Meanwhile, indoor in the gym and fitness studio, other sporting challenges were undertaken. These included the vertical jump, the basketball throw, where you try to achieve as many baskets from penalty throws as possible in 60 seconds, the Plank!, performing and holding the plank positions for as long as possible, and the 1km exercise bike sprint, the winner being the fastest time to cover a virtual kilometer unsurprisingly.
It was up to the students in each tutor group to decide who was going to participate in each event, but everybody had to try something. Medals were awarded to the winners in all the events and this year, for the first time, there will also be a winning 'House'. Our new House system is just starting up and the winning House will be revealed very soon.
