Canons High School

Girls Football, Boys Basketball & Karate Champions

Girls U14 Football

19th October

Our newly formed Girls Under 14s squad travelled to Nower Hill High to play on their astro turf pitches.  They were taking part in a Harrow Schools round robin, 7-a-side football competition, their first ever!

However, the other teams representing Park High, Whitmore and Bentley Wood high schools, comprised U16 girls, older and generally physically larger than our young girls. As expected, it turned out to be a physical and pulsating tournament!

Blood, Sweat & Tears.

Not put off, our team committed themselves totally on what was an extremely chilly day. Wins for Canons High eluded them this time but every match was tough and hard fought, the victors only ever winning by a single goal.

Again, we are extremely proud of our U14 Girls Squad, their commitment and their determination in the face of older and more experienced opposition. It was a tough introduction to tournament competition but we think they came away as winners on several levels. Very well done girls.

Our squad: Daria G, Safaa B, Alyazia D, Halle S, Haifa S, Yasmine H, Abigail F, Natasha A, Ilva B, Jessica K, Aimee W & Nevaeh M.
Coach: Mr A Conway (immensely proud again!)

NEXT GAME: 3rd December in a very special all day tournament taking place at Hendon Football Club. Sponsored by the Met Police with the theme of raising awareness and supporting efforts in opposition to Violence Against Women & Girls.   #RightToPLay

Good luck girls.

Boys Year 9 Basketball

19th October

Only recently formed, this was the first ever competition game for our Year 9 Boys Basketball team.

Playing away at Nower Hill High they won, 17-16, in what was a tough and low scoring game.

They looked fab wearing their new Canons basketball kit and represented our school brilliantly. Their coach, Mr B Adenekan was very impressed by their performance and unashamedly proud of this win in their first ever game. A sign of things to come?

Very well done boys.

NEXT GAME: Against local competitors Park High on Nov 20th. Good Luck.
