It is that time of the year where soon-to-be Year 7s visit Canons High School for a day full of activities, in order to trial whether or not they'd enjoy our school.

Ready for the day!

Newly appointed Head of Year, Mr Brown, was looking forward to meeting his first ever Year 7 group! After having his Year 11s graduate a few weeks before, the stress of his students' final exams are far in the future now!

The day began with Welcome assemblies from our Principal, Mr Bullock, and Head of Year Mr Brown. They  introduced the school's expectations from prospective students, and what our school can provide in response.

The sea of students was made up of a rainbow of colours, representing their respective primary schools. We hope that next year they will all be dressed in our iconic red polo instead! The day began with icebreaking activities to give the students more confidence, and familiarity between their peers. A prepared set of documents per student were handed out, with a get to know me activity, peer bingo, and introductory booklet welcoming them to our school.

Orientation activities were next, where students  split into supervised groups with the help of our Year 9-10 volunteers, and toured around the school. They were introduced to each department, to help them learn their way around in preparation for September.

After breaktime, students were introduced to a taster of lessons here at Canons High School. English was the subject for the first taster lesson, with our students learning about the topic of Myths and Legends.

To finish the day, the Year 6s recieved a presentation from our Year 10 Prefects regarding their own experience transitioning into Year 7. Our prefects spoke about  own experiences at our High School, what to expect and how much they've learnt and grown from! 

We hope that all of the Year 6s enjoyed their transition day at Canons High School, and look forward to seeing some familiar faces in September!
