How Do You Feel About Flat Sharing?
March 14th
This big question kicked off a special presentation our Year 13 Sixth Formers participated in recently.
"A facilitator from "Wize up Education", part of the Jack Petchey foundation, came in to present to all Year 13s about flat sharing, savings and investments.
This is an important time for our Year 13s as they turn into adults and prepare to go to work or university.
Some will be moving away from home and awareness about flat sharing with non family members becomes essential. The students were advised about the different types of contracts and given tips and good practices on what to do and look out for before signing any tenancy contracts. They were also given advice on what makes a good co sharer and how to avoid the pitfalls of renting and sharing.
They were also informed about the importance of saving and the different forms of savings and investments with the varying risk involved in them. The information raised financial awareness and gave the students things to consider and plan as they become more and more independent.
Special mention for Yaqub Jama, who actively contributed to the discussions and had lots of questions which I'm sure others would have wanted to ask as well. "
