The Leavers assemblies are one of the times that our Year 11s get to enjoy and relax before their exams. Usually a few hours full of nostalgic memories and laughter, this year's assembly definitely did not fall short of any expectations!

Head of Year 11, Mr Brown kicked off the morning by allowing students to sign each others shirts; whilst they all made their way to the hall for the final time. Once seated, Mr Bullock gave a moving speech about goals and accomplishments - stating how our students had gained lifelong friendships, knowledge and experience here at Canons.

Mr Brown then began handing out the long-awaited funny awards, split into different categories such as Student nominated awards, Teacher nominated awards, and group awards.

Group awards, some for celebrating efforts in subjects and some funnier ones

Some of our students used this opportunity to collect their award with flair, with dramatic walk downs and loud cheers to match.

Teachers were also nominated for awards, with Mr Barrett receiving his second award for being the school's "fed". Mr Litchfield was also ecstatic to be receiving an award himself, after spending the morning announcing awards for everyone else!

Once the awards were finished, Mr Brown, the Head of Year 11 delivered an emotional and empowering speech - reminding students that this may be the end of one part of their lives, but is the beginning of an entirely new chapter.

After the final speech and videos, students were given the time to sign each others shirts, and take photographs with their teachers and friends!

Each year the designs on our Leavers' shirts get consistently better! This year our students showcased their creativity through a range of media across the backs of their white shirts. Some students hand-drew their favourite characters from japanese animes, film, songs or even mini versions of themselves.  Whilst others painted, cut out and for the first time ever , hand embroidered their designs.

Shirts were even bedazzled with beads and gemstones, with intricate floral designs or names glittering across the shirts. Each bead must have taken so much time and effort to place!

Students made their final exit, whilst being applauded by the teachers who had the privilege to educate them over the past 5 years. The final steps towards the exams is definitely nerve-wracking, but we are sure our students will be prepared to try their best.
